According to a survey by Sell cell, more than 50% of users said they do not want to upgrade to iPhone 13 because the old iPhone models are still too good.
Recently, the Sell cell site conducted a survey on the needs of users to upgrade to a new iPhone. Specifically, the survey ran from July 28 to August 6 with more than 3,000 iPhone users in the US.
The survey results showed that up to 56.3% of users said they were not interested in iPhone 13 because the old iPhone models were too good. Meanwhile, 43.7% of users plan to upgrade to a new iPhone. This figure is up 2.7% from a Sell cell survey the previous year.
Opinions from the survey said that the iPhone 12 has changed in design compared to its predecessor, the chassis is square and eye-catching. It is likely that the iPhone 13 will lose its appeal because it retains the same design from the iPhone 12. However, users still expect Apple to equip more interesting features on the 2021 iPhone generation.
According to the survey, about 22% of users think that the high 120 Hz screen refresh rate will be an important feature, convincing them to upgrade to iPhone 13. Besides, users are also looking forward to the feature. Always-On display (the screen is always on, appearing for a long time on Android models), the notch is made compact and the fingerprint sensor under the screen will appear on the new iPhone.
In addition, iPhone 13 is the most awaited by users with 38.2%, the remaining positions belong to iPhone 13 Pro Max 30.8%, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Mini accounted for 24% and 7% respectively. This is not too surprising because in fact iPhone 12 Mini also has the lowest sales of the 4 iPhone 12 models. Even, TrendForce - a semiconductor research firm from Taiwan has claimed iPhone 12 Mini can production was discontinued in the second quarter, after sales of the device fell short of expectations.
Market analysts say that, although the iPhone 12 Mini is integrated with many new features, smartphone users in the global market are tending towards phones with larger screens. While the iPhone 12 Mini also benefits from being cheaper than other handsets in the iPhone 12 series, customers can choose to buy previous year's models if they want to save money.
Leaked information says that there will be 4 iPhone models in 2021 including the smallest version iPhone 13 Mini with 5.4-inch screen, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro using 6.1-inch screen and the most advanced version iPhone 13 Pro Max with 6.7 inch screen.
According to leaker Jon Prosser, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max will be equipped with LTPO panels, accompanied by a 120Hz refresh rate. In addition, there are many information that IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) technology will also be used by Apple on the new generation iPhone to reduce screen power consumption.
At the end of July, market analysis firm Wedbush revealed that the iPhone 13 was the first iPhone model with a storage capacity of up to 1TB. Their source from the supply chain for Apple, said that the iPhone 13 is in its final state of completion and the highest capacity version has been decided. However, only the Pro version will be equipped with 1TB of storage. Earlier, Apple also introduced the iPad Pro M1 model with 1TB capacity option.
The Sell cell site also predicts that besides the iPhone 13, "apple defect" will introduce many other products such as Apple Watch Series 7, AirPods 3 and possibly MacBook Pro 2021 at its event in September.
