According to recent information from Bloomberg, Apple's upcoming flagship iPhones, expected to be called iPhone 13, will have the ability to automatically blur the background as part of the new portrait video mode.
This "Cinematic Video" feature is said to be one of three important new camera features for this year's iPhones. The other two features are ProRes video recording and new photo editing options.
In addition to software improvements, it is expected that the iPhone 13 will also receive hardware upgrades. According to information from analyst Ming Chi Kuo last year, the upcoming iPhone generation will have an improved ultra-wide camera, along with a larger aperture, better support for low-light photography.
Supporting ProRes will be extremely useful to video editors, giving them more control over their footage in post-production. As for photos, Bloomberg said, this year's iPhones will have a new filter style editing feature, allowing users to choose a style to apply to their photos. Unlike filters, the new feature will apply those changes to specific elements in the image, rather than the entire image.
According to Bloomberg, this year's iPhones will be equipped with 120Hz LTPO screens with the ability to automatically change the refresh rate to match the displayed content. More interestingly, the iPhone 13 will also have the Always-On Display feature like many current Android smartphones.
It is expected that all iPhone 13 models this year will have smaller notch as well as improved processing capabilities thanks to the all-new A15 chip. Still, Bloomberg claims, this year's update is "quite modest." The model as well as the screen size will be the same as what we saw last year.
