Market analysts say Apple no longer reports average selling prices, instead focusing on "US-weighted average retail price" (US-WARP).
CIRP estimates that as more people choose the iPhone 12 Pro Max as their next phone, US-WARP rose to $869 in the April-June quarter, significantly higher than in the same period last year.
Another positive trend is that Apple recorded a significant increase in sales through its own retail operations (both online and brick-and-mortar), while Best Buy and carriers sold get less units. However, most iPhones (66% as of June 2021) are still sold through carriers.
With iPhone sales growing by double digits year-over-year, Apple's profit and revenue for the April-June period easily exceeded analyst estimates. Apple earned $21.7 billion, or $1.30 per share, nearly double the profit it made in the same period last year. Revenue rose 36% to $81.4 billion.
